At the Pasvik Folk High School, 200 miles above the Arctic Circle, a group of teenagers choose an unconventional gap year: no classroom lessons or screens, but dog sledding, surviving in the Arctic wilderness and learning to rely on each other – and on a loyal pack of Alaskan huskies. In the magical Folktales we follow three of these youngsters, each seeking a fresh start here.

Take Norwegian Hege, for example, who after the loss of her father hopes the wilderness will give her direction again. Bjørn Tore, too, is tired of being an outsider and unexpectedly finds a companion here in Romain from Groningen, who wants to overcome his social anxiety. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery in the biting cold.
